Shetland Pictures

Front views: starting with Cider sire to all lambs and K.G. a 4 year old shetland wether with the 5 pound fleeces.
Bella (back) and her ewe lamb Stevie. She is nursing two lambs that size! They graze on this blue grass in the evenings by the barn. The rest of the day they get a small amount of grass hay and browes on the brush in their other 10 acres. They don't even come back to this grass during the day. No grain and no improved pastures! Front views: This is Charlee's wether.

Stevie again. She was named after her blind sister from last year who died.
Charlee's ewe lamb and her wether.

Charlee and her ewe lamb.

and some rear views: the grass has a special appeal right here. Nothing that I did.

This is the best view of one of the ram lambs I still have, Rocco. He kept laying down when I went to get his front end. He is so big and sturdy and is younger than the moorit wether standing in front of him.

Looking good, Mim! And I'm SO glad you've had a better lambing season this year; you deserved it.

My, your sheep have it nice. And what beautiful sheep they are indeed. Is the ram the one you suspected of genetic problems during last years lamb fiasco? Or is this a New Guy?
I think I may have to kill off some of the more weedy plants in our pasture, then reseed with something like bluegrass. The problem with bluegrass here is that you have to water it so much and that gets expensive. :(
Leigh's right - great pictures of your very lucky sheep!

You have a great looking flock of obviously, very healthy sheep! Enjoy...

Gorgeous pictures. Your sheep are stunning and it's hard to think that your lovely grass is right here in Nevada. I'm glad things turned out so well after being, um, I guess just not well. No birthing traumas, the sheep have more room and Jake is off the hook.

Thanks for the pictures. I can't wait to come up in a few weeks to see them all.

Hey, great news on Spud - handsome little fellow. Don't you love it when your sheep line up in a "color wheel"? The boys all lined up at the fence for a chin scratch when we got home this evening - three little wagging tails at attention. Wish I'd had my camera out :-)

Good idea for breaking down your compost - I wish my chickens got to go out into the pastures but The Shepherd says they tear up his garden, so they aren't allowed out.
