Wethers

Here are some pictures of my wethers. There are three wethers that live here full time. Since I only keep one ram at a time I find wethers to be the perfect companions for my lone ram. They do a great job of teaching a young ram some manors and at the same time don't have the need to bash the ram around. I believe the ram learns to be the boss eventually without having to fight to the death to prove his supremacy.
Cider my latest ram did have a father with a passive attitude and being raised by my three wethers has become a very respectful man. He lets me catch him with no effort yet leaves me alone as I feed and care for him and his ewe's. I will continue to let him live with the ewe's as long as he continues to act in this manor. Picture above is K.G. (King George) when he has his picture taken he always acts the part!
This next guy is Kalus. I have a black wether named Sailor that I can't get a good picture of yet. All three of these wethers are coming four years old.

Poco (Charlee/Newton) the bigger guy and his friend (Shay/Newton) are from this spring. Amazing difference in size. I don't name everyone because some just don't name themselves and I have to butcher so many it isn't fun to name them all. The little wether has a sister, "Tru" the same coloring. With the black, brown and white I called them calicos.

Here is "Mac" this is Ciders brother and keeping to the apple thyme he became Macintosh or
Teddy Mac because he is so teddy bear like. He got the teddy name because of his fleece. He just may stay longer than next spring. Newton, sire to all the lambs this year gave his lambs some soft crimpy single coats and some strong solid bodies.

Here is the biggest guy born this year. He was a large single from (Siskin/Newton) and has remained the largest of this years wethers. Beautiful fleece and large strong boned lamb.

Here is the little guy. Born very tiny and twin to a sick ewe lamb who was even smaller Sofie/Newton. His mother was culled and if he doesn't find a fiber pet home he will be too.
